A boy has appeared in the Hamilton Youth Court after an incident in which a Paeroa College student was shot in the head and face three times with pellets from a BB gun.
The spring-loaded weapon was also aimed at the teacher, Felise Tai'i, who tackled the boy to the ground and held him there until police arrived on Monday.
On Tuesday, the 14-year-old faced five charges, including two charges of assault with a weapon and one charge of possession of a firearm.
He also faces expulsion from Paeroa College.
The school is reviewing its security policies following the incident.
