Police in Northland have arrested 52 people after a series of raids on suspected drug-dealing houses and indoor cannabis growers.

They say the operation over three days last week involved about 80 staff and followed six months of investigations.

Police searched properties from Kaitaia to Whangarei and Dargaville and found 22 grams of methamphetamine, 193 cannabis tinnies, more than $20,000 in cash and stolen property.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Huys says the operation was supported by Customs and the Ministry of Justice.

Mr Huys says a number of those arrested were members of organised crime gangs, and children found at some of the raided houses have been referred to Child, Youth and Family.
