Updated at 7:23 pm on 19 August 2012

Police have released the name of a fisherman who died in Wellington Harbour on Saturday.

He was Leon Grant Scurrah of Lower Hutt.

Police say Mr Scurrah, 49, was in a dinghy with another man when it capsized and sank, about 100 metres off the Hutt Road.

The pair began swimming to shore but only one made it and he raised the alarm.

Police say neither of the men were wearing life jackets, despite having them stowed on the boat.

The death has been referred to the coroner.
