Snow warnings are in place for South Island alpine passes.
MetService says rain on the Lewis, Arthurs, Lindis and Porters Passes is expected to turn to snow on Sunday night and continue through much of Monday.
Some 10cm - 15cm will settle on the top of the Lewis, Arthurs and Porters Passes but only 2cm - 5cm centimetres on the Lindis Pass.
