Two people have been rescued from the sea in Taranaki after their small boat capsized.
Police say the pair were crossing the Waitara bar, north of New Plymouth, when their boat flipped on Thursday afternoon.
Constable Mark Stevenson says they were able to stand on the bar until another boat came to their rescue.
The pair had lifejackets in the boat, but were not wearing them.
