A woman is being taken to Wellington hospital in a critical condition after she was hit by a train on a rail track north of Wellington.
Police said the incident happened at 11.15am on Saturday.
State Highway One was closed briefly for a helicopter to land, but the woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Trains have resumed between Porirua - Waikanae.
