Dozen fire calls

6:00 am on 3 February 2013

The Fire Service in Christchurch was busy with a dozen calls on Saturday evening.

One fire was at a house in Gloucester Street near Stanmore road. Four crews were sent. The cause is not yet known.

It was one of about 12 fires around the city for five hours from 6pm onwards, with bushes and rubbish bins being set ablaze.

Many were small fires in rubbish bins and some were deliberately lit.

Police are investigating.
