Rural fire ban by New Plymouth

11:02 am on 19 February 2013

New Plymouth District Council is imposing a rural fire ban as the hot dry weather looks set to continue.

From midnight on Wednesday, open-air burning is to be banned and existing fire permits will be suspended in rural parts of New Plymouth.

South Taranaki, from Hawera to Opunake, already has a ban in place, since last month, and is extending it to include all areas.
