A man will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Monday charged over an attack on a teenager that involved a butcher's knife and meat cleaver.
Police say officers were called just about 3.40am to De Carle Street in the suburb of south Dunedin where the teenager had been walking with a friend.
The man in his 20s confronted them before walking into his house and returning with a butcher's knife in one hand and a meat cleaver in the other.
Police say the man struck out at the teen, inflicting a large slash wound to his chest.
The victim and his friend fled to a nearby house, while officers found the alleged offender at the scene and arrested him on a charge him of wounding with intent.
The teenager was taken to Dunedin Hospital.
