Nelson Mayor Aldo Miccio says a plan to reduce power prices has attracted so much interest it is now going nationwide.
Mr Miccio chairs the Kiwi Energy Trust, which plans to negotiate prices on behalf of households.
People can register their interest, but will not have to commit to the plan until they see what's offered.
Mr Miccio said the scheme was initially called the Nelson Energy Team Trust which hoped to attract 20,000 registrations from Nelson.
However, he said it has been renamed to reflect a nationwide approach because of many inquiries from around the country.
