An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale has struck off Taranaki.
It was centred about 70km north of French Pass in the Marlborough Sounds.
The quake at 6.43am on Sunday was at a depth of 5km and GNS Science says it may have been felt in both Nelson and South Taranaki regions.
