A pig hunter missing in Northland overnight has been found safe and well.
Search teams were looking for a man who went hunting in the Haruru Falls area near Waitangi on Tuesday.
The alarm was raised when his dogs returned without him.
Police said on Wednesday morning that the man was found hobbling along a forestry track at first light.
Sergeant Cliff Metcalfe says he sprained his ankle while following his dogs down a gully and decided to make a shelter during the storm.
