Police in Auckland are searching for an elderly man who phoned his family to tell them he was trapped in a ditch.
Henry Alexander Saunders, 83, who has dementia, was last seen on Wednesday morning in the Takanini and Papakura areas in his white van.
Police say he contacted his family on Thursday morning to say his van was in a ditch.
A sweep of the area by a police helicopter failed to find any sign of him.
