Judicial review delayed until late November

A judicial review of a decision by the Minister of Health to dismiss the Hawke's Bay District Health Board has been delayed for three months.

In February, the Minister removed the board citing dysfunctional relationships with management and a deteriorating financial situation. A commissioner was installed in place of the board.

Plans for court action against the minister began within hours of the decision.

Justice Randerson was scheduled to preside over a judicial review in the High Court in Napier later this month.

But in a preliminary hearing in Auckland this week ,he ordered that parts of an affidavit from the board's former chairman Kevin Atkinson be struck out and that a new one be filed.

The judicial review has been re-scheduled for late November in Napier.
