Forestry worker in hospital after tree rolled on leg

3:13 pm on 18 September 2013

A forestry worker is in Wellington Hospital with serious leg injuries after a tree rolled on to him at a logging operation near Castlepoint on Wednesday morning.

A rescue helicopter was called out at about 9:30am to where a man in his late 30s was being treated by co-workers.

About 330 workers were seriously hurt in the forestry sector last year, making it one of the most dangerous industries to work in.
