Local Government Minister Chris Tremain has begun his first meeting with incoming Christchurch mayor Lianne Dalziel ahead of the new council's swearing in ceremony later on Thursday afternoon.
The local government elections produced a major reshuffle in the council, with ten new faces including Ms Dalziel.
Mr Tremain is also talking with Crown manager Doug Martin to discuss his progress with fixing the council's building consents department.
In July, the Government appointed Mr Martin to the council to help the it regain its accreditation to issue building consents.
The mayor and councillors will be sworn in at 5.30pm on Thursday at their first council meeting of the new term.
