Woman pulled from house fire dies

9:21 pm on 28 October 2013

A woman thought to be in her 50s was pulled from her burning home in Auckland by fire crews on Monday but died as they tried to revive her.

The fire in Harding Avenue in the suburb of Mt Wellington broke out just before 4pm.

The Fire Service says a crew got to the property within four minutes of the call. The woman was given CPR before an ambulance arrived but could not be saved.

The district's assistant area commander, Roger Callister, says though it wasn't a large fire, there was a lot of smoke, and crews haven't yet found any smoke alarms in the house.
