Developer calls for council to move on parking

A major Christchurch developer says the city council needs to get on and repair its car park buildings to support the central city rebuild.

Antony Gough is the developer of the Terrace, a retail and office complex to be built in central Christchurch.

Mr Gough says a third of his space will be used for car parking, but the Council also has to do its bit.

He says all eight of the council's carpark buildings are still out of operation due to the earthquakes.

Mr Gough says the council took development levies from developers for the carparks, and they should be told what will happen to the buildings.

He says he hopes the new council will ensure the buildings are repaired and reopened soon.
