Police have seized illegal drugs, guns and ammunition from two properties in the Coromandel district.
Two men were arrested after early morning raids by the Armed Offenders Squad on Wednesday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley says ammunition and two loaded rifles, one of them a semi-automatic, were found at the properties along with drugs including methamphetamine, Ecstacy and cannabis.
Mr Pitkethley says a 51-year-old man was charged with drug and firearm offences in the Hamilton District Court on Wednesday.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on existing theft and motor-vehicle offences, and is likely to face further charges relating to the raids, he says.
