A 46-year-old man will appear in court in Wellington on Wednesday charged with aggravated burglary and murder following a homicide investigation.
Police were alerted after screaming was heard at a house in Woodridge, near Johnsonville, early on Tuesday morning. The body of a 38-year-old woman was found.
A post-mortem will be carried out on the woman on Wednesday. A detailed forensic examination is also continuing at the property.
The accused was treated in hospital for injuries, but later discharged.
