Councillor unhappy at flyover submission process

9:09 am on 7 December 2013

Wellington city councillor Iona Pannett has joined criticism of the timeframe for final submissions on the proposed Basin Reserve flyover.

Public submissions closed in September and submitters evidence is due by 13 December. Those wanting to rebut those submissions have until 21 January.

United Future leader and Ohariu MP Peter Dunne, has accused the government of railroading the submissions process, saying the timeframe is unreasonable given this is the summer holiday period.

Iona Pannett, who represents the council ward where the flyover would be located, says it's not often she agrees with Mr Dunne but in this instance he's right.

She says the timeframe is farcical and she fears the Board of Inquiry considering the project has already made up its mind to support it.
