An eight-year-old boy is in critical condition in Nelson Hospital on Sunday evening after being hit by a car in Moutere.
He was airlifted to the hospital by the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust.
A spokesperson says the boy was hit by a car travelling at low speed in what is believed to be the service yard of an apple orchard.
He says the boy is thought to be a staff member's child.
