A boat which caught fire at about 2am on Friday in the Marlborough Sounds is now on the bottom of Chaucer Bay.
The Fire Service in Picton said the 50 foot boat was well-ablaze when crews and the Marlborough Coast Guard arrived, and the super structure was destroyed.
Flames were also coming out from the vents above the water.
Two people were treated for smoke inhalation at the Bay of Many Coves Resort.
The boat subsequently drifted north into Chaucer Bay where it sunk.
