Police are investigating the discovery of white powder in an envelope at the Rotorua electoral office.
A man opened the envelope at 8am on Friday and discovered the powder.
He works at the Electoral office in Amohia Street, which is home to the regional Electoral Enrolment Centre, Chief Electoral Office and the Electoral Commission.
He has been decontaminated.
Police have taken the powder away for testing.
