Jetskiers 'lucky to escape without injury'

8:05 pm on 11 January 2014

The Queenstown Harbourmaster says two men were lucky to escape serious injury after they were involved in a jetski crash on the Clutha River.

Marty Black says one jetski stopped on the river on Friday afternoon when the driver noticed a big rock, and a second driver crashed into him.

Both swam to shore safely and their jetskis were recovered on Friday night.

Mr Black says the first jetski was extensively damaged and the crash is a reminder for jetskiers and boaties to keep at least 50 metres away from other craft at all times.
