A holiday home in the Marlborough Sounds has been destroyed by fire.
The Picton fire brigade was called to Waterfall Bay property, accessible only by water, about 3.40am on Sunday.
Firefighters managed to put out the blaze before it spread to surrounding vegetation but damage to the walls and structure was so extensive the house collapsed.
One person was staying in the house and managed to get out unhurt. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
