A motorist has died following a crash near Katikati in Bay of Plenty.
The male driver was the only person in the car when it crashed near Kauri Point Road, north of the town. State Highway 2 has reopened.
A police car came across the scene almost immediately because it was responding to another serious crash.
Two cars crashed on the main street in that incident, with one of them flipping onto its roof. Three people including a baby were injured.
A woman was found unconscious and was earlier reported to have life threatening injuries but those injuries are now classed as less severe. She has been taken to hospital.
