A police sting in the Far North has caught four liquor outlets selling to underage customers.
Police and health officials ran a controlled-purchase operation in the region last weekend, using people under 18 posing as customers.
Out of 10 premises tested, from Kaitaia to Houhora, four sold alcohol to the minors.
Senior Constable Graeme Wright says that is extremely disppointing, and shows how easy it is for underage people to buy alcohol in the Far North.
He says the police will ask the Alcohol Licensing Authority to suspend or cancel the liquor licence for the outlets failing the test.
