The Leaning Lodge tramping hut in Otago leans no more after volunteers put in 1000 hours of labour to restore it.

The hut was formed in 1958 high up on the Rock and Pillar ranges near Middlemarch out of two old army huts, but the Department of Conservation wanted it removed because it was run down.
It is used by trampers, skiers and University of Otago field trips.
Secretary of the Leaning Lodge charitable trust Alan Thomson, says 37 people have put a total 1000 hours of work into turning the hut into a five-star facility.
"A facility like this would be very hard to create under today's town planning and regulations shall we say?
"We felt that it couldn't be lost. Generations for the last 50 or 60 years have had the pleasure of using it and why can't future generations?"
Mr Thomson says about fifty people including Dunedin's mayor are expected to tramp and four-wheel-drive up to the hut for the official opening at 1.30pm Saturday.
