A man is under arrest on firearms charges after a shotgun was fired in inner city Wellington on Sunday morning.
Senior Sergeant Marc Clausen said police a firearm was reportedly discharged near the Sirocco Apartments on Church Street, near The Terrace at about 1am.
A section of the Terrace was cordoned off for about two hours while members of the Armed Offenders Squad entered the building and arrested a man.
A man, 35, will appear in Wellington District Court on Monday.
No one was injured and no property was damaged, but the shotgun has not been found. A specialist team is searching apartments nearby.
