Motorists in Auckland may have to pay more to park downtown, as the council struggles to keep a lid on rate rises.
Auckland Transport is suggesting an extra $1 an hour for onstreet parking and in three of its downtown parking buildings.
Councillors will decide on Thursday whether to back the rise, as they finalise next year's budget and a projected increase in residential rates of 3.6 percent.
