A dive squad will join the search for two men who jumped into the Waikato River while fleeing from the police.
A police spokesperson said the two men were in a stolen vehicle and were involved in a police chase near Atiamuri, 45km north of Taupo.
The men, in their 20s, abandoned the car on a forestry track and a police dog tracked them directly into the river.
They had not been seen since, despite an extensive search involving the Coastguard and a helicopter, the spokesman said.
