Couple killed in crash named

The names of Reefton couple killed when their car and a train collided on the West Coast on Wednesday have been released.

Police named them as Robert James Jacobs, 66, and Marieta Ocba Jacobs, 43.

The Jacobs' died when their car hit a coal train at a level crossing at Inangahua on Wednesday afternoon.

Serious crash investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, in which no one else was injured.

KiwiRail said the crossing had give way signs, and no previous collisions had been recorded there.
