Four people including a 13-year-old girl have been arrested after a police dog handler and his animal were attacked while responding to a domestic incident in Palmerston North.
Police said while attempting to arrest a man at a house in Heath Place in Awapuni this morning an officer was assaulted by a family member, receiving minor head injuries, and the dog was also hurt.
Two people aged 50 and 19 are in custody and would appear in court tomorrow on several charges.
A 37-year-old woman is due in court on Thursday on an obstruction charge, while the 13-year-old would be referred to Youth Aid.
