A former Bay of Plenty man has gone on trial for numerous sex charges, some against girls, that are alleged to have taken place over a 15-year period.
The 63-year-old faces 50 charges, some of them representative charges between 1973 and 1988.
The charges include 28 of indecencies with a girl under the age of 12, ten of indencies with a girl aged between 12 and 16, and three of rape.
The man's name has been suppressed. The trial at the High Court in Rotorua is expected to take three weeks.
The jury has been dismissed for the day by Justice Fogarty to allow for in-chambers arguments this afternoon.
The trial would resume tomorrow morning.
