A former ambulance officer accused of sexually assaulting four women in his ambulance concedes it is extraordinary that images were created on his phone at the exact time a girl alleged he abused her and filmed it.
Christopher King is accused of eight sex charges against four women between 2010 and 2013, including allegations he sexually violated and made intimate visual recordings of a 15-year-old girl while transporting her in an ambulance.
Under cross-examination in the Napier District Court today, Crown prosecutor Steve Manning put it to Mr King it was extraordinary that four women of different ages and backgrounds claimed that he sexually assaulted them.
The Crown presented forensic evidence showing two videos were created on his phone at the exact times the girl said he abused her and filmed it. The videos were later deleted.
Mr Manning said at least four actions were required to take video on the phone, so it was very unlikely that the filming was accidental.
Christopher King has denied taking the video. He said the girl may have got his phone and taken the images, but conceded he did not see her doing that while attending to her.
His lawyer Bill Calve told the court today there was no onus of proof on his client. He said Mr King wanted to give his side of story and would be their only witness.
Mr Calver said there were no witnesses to the alleged incidents, it was just a 'he said, she said' scenario and Mr King was not guilty of anything.
The accused has admitted images were recorded while carrying one alleged victim, but said they were accidental and were blank.
