All lanes on the Auckland Harbour Bridge have reopened after a crash around midday forced the closure of three of the four northbound lanes.
A collision between a truck and a motorcycle created a 20 kilometre backlog of traffic on the Southern Motorway heading toward the bridge, police said.
They said two motorcycles and a heavy truck were involved in the crash on the northbound lanes of the bridge and both motorcyclists were in a critical condition.
Traffic was also backed up about 10 kilometres on the Northwestern Motorway heading westbound.
The Transport Agency said it would take some time for the backlog to clear.
