A man seriously burnt in a house fire in the Southland town of Nightcaps on Friday night has died in Dunedin Hospital.
A police spokesperson said a scene examination of the house had been completed and they were satisfied the fire was accidental.
The spokesperson praised the actions of the man's neighbours, who pulled him from the burning house.
The incident has been referred to the coroner.
