A man has been arrested in Christchurch this afternoon for aggravated burglary, kidnapping and possession of methamphetamine.
The police said he had been involved in a two-day crime spree around the suburb of Addington during which a firearm was reportedly used.
The man was arrested by the Armed Offenders Squad this afternoon without incident.
The police were thanking members of the public who reported seeing him in a nearby shopping mall.
Cordons had been put up at Parade Court and at Barrington Mall, following reports of a firearm being discharged at 10.15pm yesterday.
The man will appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow.
