Police are appealing for witnesses of a suspicious fire that burnt down a historic barn in Christchurch on Wednesday.

The barn on River Road in the suburb of Richmond was burnt down about 4pm.
Detective Anita Osborne said the fire was being treated as suspicious, so police would like to talk to anyone with information about the fire.
Ms Osborne said passers-by who took photos and videos could provide valuable information to the investigation.
The historic barn was on crown-owned land and was due to be demolished later in the year.
