It manages 960 offenders on community based sentences such as home detention.

The $1.9 million refurbishment includes safer interview rooms, more space for programmes and training and better security.

Corrections Minister Sam Lotu-Iiga said the safety of staff and the public was a top priority.

The upgrade is part of a five year $70m nationwide renewal programme to more than two thirds of the 150 community sites, expected to be completed by 2018.
