Christchurch police are appealing for help from the public to identify the men involved in two sexual attacks.

Two women, aged 21 and 18, were attacked in separate incidents in the central city on Friday night.

The 18-year-old woman was attacked by three men in a white van she had got into believing there was only one man inside.

She was driven around the city and sexually assaulted by the men.

Detective Sergeant Jeremy Gunn said she was able to get out of the van about 10.30pm, on the corner of Armagh Street and Fitzgerald Avenue.

The assault on the 21-year-old happened in Peacock Street, and involved a red Holden Commodore which had since been found.

Mr Gunn said anyone with information on either attack or the whereabouts of the white van should contact police.
