Man charged, six injured after family fight

Six people were taken to separate hospitals in Auckland after a fight between two factions of a family in Henderson.

Three people were taken to Auckland hospital after an emergency 111 call was made from a house in Kingdale Road, just before 10pm on Saturday. Three others people were taken to North Shore hospital with moderate injuries.

A police spokesman, Kevin Loughlin, says the police were shocked at the bloody scene that greeted them when they arrived.

Mr Loughlin says police have recovered three knives at the house.

He says all involved were well known to each other and the police are not looking for anyone else.

A 45-year-old man was charged with assault and was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court on Monday.

The arrested man was discharged from hospital early on Sunday, two of the injured have been transferred to Middlemore for specialist surgery, one remains in Auckland Hospital and two in North Shore Hospital.

Police have not ruled out further charges or arrests.
