Ten people have been taken to hospital after three cars and a truck were involved in a road smash on State Highway 2 in southern Hawke's Bay.
Police say two women and a man were taken to hospital in a critical condition after the accident near Otane, north of Waipawa.
Three children were also injured, including a four-year-old boy who has serious injuries.
Emergency services are at the scene, and diversions will remain in place north and south of the area until further notice.
