A body has been recovered from the Waikato River downstream from where a man jumped off a bridge five days ago.
Police were alerted after someone spotted the body floating near the park off Anne St in Hamilton on Monday afternoon.
They say it's too early to know for certain but the body is likely to be that of an unidentified man who jumped from Claudelands Bridge into the river on Thursday.
Witnesses said they saw a man in his early 20s leap from the bridge, resurface nearby and call for help before he went under again.
Search and Rescue personnel and the National Police Dive Squad have been looking for him since the incident.
