Federated Farmers says extreme weather made 2010 a tough growing season.
It says flooding in Marlborough last week caused havoc for growers and farmers there.
Meanwhile, the Southland region which was hit by a severe snow storm in September, is now too dry.
However, the federation does not anticipate a big impact on food prices.
