A child who was hit by a car in Auckland remains critically ill in Starship Hospital.
The three-year-old boy was hit while crossing the road in the suburb of Orakei just after 7pm on Sunday.
Police say the driver stopped at the scene and has been helping with their inquiry.
The boy, who is in a critical but stable condition, was originally reported by the police to be a two-year-old girl.
