Mayor's projects seen as pipedreams

A former North Shore City Council member says promises by Auckland Mayor Len Brown to deliver a number of expensive large-scale projects are pipedreams.

Me Brown has been accused of taking on too much in his first term as the head of the new council.

He wants a $2 billion rail tunnel through the central business district, and other projects to help improve Auckland's position as an economic force.

But former North Shore Councillor Joel Cayford says he can't see any signs the new council is under control following the amalgamation of eight councils which took place on 1 November.
