$112m cut in subsidies feared

Auckland faces losing $112 million in subsidies for roading and public transport facilities.

The figures are contained in an estimate by Auckland Transport of the impact of the Government's proposed three year funding plan.

The draft policy proposes more spending on state highways in Auckland, but most of the increased spending on public transport services will go towards new charges from KiwiRail.

The agency believes the region could manage in the short-term. But chief executive David Warburton roading quality might suffer in several years.
