Canterbury student suspected to have TB

A senior student at a Canterbury high school has been diagnosed with probable tuberculosis.

The Canterbury District Health Board says the Lincoln High School student is responding well to treatment and is likely to be back at school in a fortnight.

The DHB's medical officer of health, Ramon Pink, says family members and possibly teachers and students at the school will be screened.

Dr Pink says community and public health service staff will meet this week with teachers, students and parents at the school to discuss TB and answer any questions they may have.
